Tyler Fyfe is an Ontario songwriter whose soulful, weathered voice turns small-town stories into something cinematic. He works from a simple belief: small lives hold big stories.
Born in a quiet Ontario town — a place where the highway out is the most interesting thing on the horizon — he picked up a guitar at eight and was writing his own songs by twelve.
At twenty-one, he and four friends loaded up a Volkswagen Rabbit and drove west. The transmission gave out in the middle of Manitoba, so they sold the car for $400 and a six-pack and split up with loose plans to meet on the beach in Tofino. Tyler hitchhiked the rest of the way — over 2,000 kilometers, with a guitar and a backpack. When the money ran low, he busked in the tourist towns along the way. The strangers who picked him up, the little stories that add up to a life, the country rolling past the window — that's where he found his sound. Stripped-back, lived-in, and sung in a voice that carries real weight.
Tyler credits John Steinbeck as a major influence: the dignity Steinbeck gave to ordinary, working people, the romance and hardship of the road, and the sense that the best stories live in the places that time forgets.
